Abstract
E-Ticket is no longer considered to be a vision of the public transport sector. Standards are set, developments completed for the most part and together the introduction of a Germany-wide interoperable E ticket is pursued to overcome transport network and country borders, to simplify customers the access and lower sales costs. The integration ability of the systems is an essential success factor in the realization. The technical solution of an E Ticketing system must embody the three core components (front-end, device infrastructure, background system) and deliver all relevant E-Ticketing processes covering the registration, verification and accounting. Furthermore the core components of the system must comply with the defined data and interface standard, in Germany the VDV core application. The industry is confronted with this challenge.
