Das deutschlandweit gültige eTicket-System erfordert eine bundesweit einwandfreie und schnelle Kommunikation aller beteiligten Verkehrsunternehmen. Beispielsweise müssen sich Fahrberechtigungen umgehend sperren lassen, wenn ein Fahrgast das eTicket verloren oder das Entgelt nicht entrichtet hat. Die Kommunikation der Verkehrsunternehmen erfolgt über ein zentrales, hochverfügbares System, das höchste Datenschutz-Anforderungen erfüllt. Die Anbindung an dieses Interoperable Netzwerk (ION) erfordert von den Unternehmen sehr spezifisches IT-Know-how. Software-Tools unterstützen sie dabei.The German eTicket system requires nationwide seamless and fast communication between all participating transportation companies.
