Abstract

Nur in geringem Umfang sind die kommunalen deutschen Schienennetze im vergangenen Jahr gewachsen. Nicht viel anders wird die Entwicklung 2020 verlaufen. Immerhin steht mit der Fertigstellung der U5 zwischen Brandenburger Tor und Alexanderplatz ein Großprojekt vor dem Abschluss und der neue Berliner Hauptbahnhof erhält endlich einen durchgehenden U-Bahn-Anschluss. Die geplante Erhöhung der GVFG-Mittel lässt bei Kommunen aufhorchen und so hat mit Düsseldorf die erste Stadt Stadtbahnpläne wieder der Schublade entnommen. So ist in den nächsten Jahren mit deutlich größerem Elan bei der Erweiterung des Straßenbahn- und U-Bahnnetzes zu rechnen.Infrastructure: where to plan and where to build. At least, with the completition of the U5 between Brandenburger Tor and Alexanderplatz, a major project is about to be completed and the new Berlin main station finally gets a new underground connection. The planned increase in funding by the municipality transport financing act (GVFG) makes municipalities sit up and take notice, and Dusseldorf is the first city to take their light rail plans out of the drawer again. So, for the next years, more energy in expanding the tram and underground network has to be expected.
