Abstract
Schutzstreifen für Radfahrende sollen auf Hauptverkehrsstraßen die Verkehrssicherheit erhöhen. Die Bundesanstalt für Straßenwesen (BASt) ermittelte nun das Gefährdungspotenzial für Radfahrer und Radfahrerinnen im Mischverkehr mit und ohne Schutzstreifen. Darüber hinaus wurden die Einflüsse des Radverkehrs auf die Verkehrsqualität innerörtlicher Straßenabschnitte untersucht.
Advisory cycle lanes have become increasingly important in recent years. This space in the "side area" of the road may only be used by other vehicles when necessary and without endangering the bicycle traffic. The potential danger for cyclists on main roads with and without advisory cycle lanes was determined in the research project. Moreover, the impact of cyclists in mixed traffic on the performance and level of service of road sections should be identified. An advisory cycle lane is a good alternative to a mandatory cycle lane in mixed traffic, when the usage conditions and design parameters are observed. The approach to assessing the performance of vehicle traffic with cyclists in mixed traffic based on quality levels can serve as the basis for a method on the future shape of the handbook for the assessment of road traffic systems.
