D2: State of the art applications to enhance the safety of cycling.

Abstract

The SAFECYCLE project focuses on ICT applications that can be used to increase the safety of cyclists, alongside traditional methods like improvements to infrastructure. The report gives an overview of the search for applications (up to December 2011), and lists 121 applications with a focus on the cyclist, the bicycle, other vehicles, infrastructure, and Interent as well as nomadic devices. New developments in the field of lighting technology, ICT, geo-positioning, GIS applications, data-transmitting devices and sensors also lead to new ideas in the field of e-safety apps.
