Abstract

The paper gives a brief overview of how planning, organizing and regulating urban bicycle traffic can be achieved institutionally by cities. It therefore focusses on the potentials and challenges of so called "Cycling Coordinators". Furthermore, the concept of "Cycling Offices" is presented which serves as an example of sound measures of bicycle coordination, wide range participation and integration of public needs into the process of urban transport planning.
