Abstract
Intensive competition is a key characteristic of the air transport market. Particularly in the low-cost sector, where air fares tend to decide the level competition, it is of paramount importance for the continued presence of airlines to position themselves strategically and to aim for optimum profits. One of the most important elements of low-cost airlines' strategy is to focus on smaller regional airports that offer 'value for money'. This link is at the forefront of the report presented since it allows actual costs to serve as a starting point for the creation of a most favourable organizational framework for this scenario. The result of this investigation has shown that, from a low-cost carrier's point of view, market-oriented cooperation - integrated with medium-term agreements - is the modus to aim for.
