Abstract
The term eTicketing marks the heart of the subject in question but does not approximately reflect the whole spectrum of instruments and potentials of modernizing, increasing the attractiveness and improving the economic efficiency of public transit implied. Mature and proven technologies are operated worldwide in a high number. At least for the next couple of years the suitability of check-in/ Check-out systems under the specific conditions in Germany will be the crucial question of taking full advantage of the potential of eTicketing. Other key complexes are the treatment of the occasional clients, the business cases, interoperability and standardisation. difu
