Safe operation of intersections requires sufficient intersection sight distance. The appearance of public transportation within inner-city traffic increases the amount of involved traffic participants and the complexity of intersections. The design addresses single objects like traffic lights, poles and bus/tram stops which potentially reduce sight distance or hide persons/objects completely. In the article it will be described the procedure spatial computation of intersection sight distance and optimization of utility position. A spatial approach for computing intersection sight distance and optimization of the position of obstacles to improve sight and clearance will be described. Evaluation criteria for practical application have been developed based on theoretical foundations. difu
