Abstract

Durch den Prozess der Globalisierung und die lokalen Planungsprozesse befindet sich der städtische Raum in einer dauerhaften Umwälzung. Gestaltung, Bedeutung und Bilder des öffentlichen Raums werden in den Beiträgen von Architekten, Historikern und Sozialwissenschaftlern behandelt. Durch das interdisziplinäre Vorgehen und die Mischung von theoretischen Ausführungen und Praxisbeispielen gewinnt man einen tiefen Einblick in die Konstruktion und Konstitution des öffentlichen Raums im heutigen Istanbul.In the context of processes of globalization and local urban planning projects urban space is continously contested. In this anthology forms, meanings and images of these urban spaces are discussed by architects, historians, and social scientists.
