Abstract
So genannte Mitfahrbänke finden seit einigen Jahren vor allem in ländlichen Regionen als Ergänzung des Mobilitätsangebots zunehmend Verbreitung. Über ihre tatsächlichen Effekte ist bislang wenig bekannt. Am Beispiel des Mitfahrbank-Angebots in Taunusstein wurden daher mit Hilfe von Interviews und quantitativen Befragungen Akzeptanz und Nutzen ermittelt. Das Ergebnis zeigt einerseits eine hohe Zustimmung zu dem Angebot und andererseits eine geringe tatsächliche Inanspruchnahme als Instrument der Mobilität. Ein Nutzen der Mitfahrbänke besteht offenbar in ihrer Rolle als potenzielle Rückfallebene der Mobilität und als Kristallisationspunkt gesellschaftlichen Engagements und Zusammenhalts.
So-called “Sit for a lift” benches have become more and more popular in the last few years, especially in rural regions, as a method of supplementing local transport services. But until now, little has been known about how efficient they are. For example, interviews and quantitative surveys have been conducted at the “sit for a lift” bench in the Taunusstein and they are being used to determine to what level the public accept the benches and to what degree they are being used. The results show that the benches are widely accepted by the public but that they are not being used as much as a method of transport. Using the benches is clearly seen as a potential fallback option for mobility and a way in which social commitment and cohesion is shown.
