Zusammenfassung
Die Weltstadt des 21. Jahrhunderts erfordert eine Stadtplanung, die durch die Lösungsansätze des 20. Jahrhunderts nicht mehr zu realisieren ist. Durch Standardisierung und Massenproduktion konnten bisher gleichförmige Bestandteile in gleichbleibender Qualität beliebig reproduziert werden. Diese Uniformität soll nun zugunsten eines komplexeren Urbanismus aufgebrochen werden. Als Mittel steht der Stadtplanung die generative Gestaltung, auch unter dem Terminus Computational Design bekannt, zur Verfügung. Vorreiterrollen nehmen verschiedene Projekte in Asien ein, die angesichts der rasenden Verstädterung dieses Kontinents Vorbildwirkung für die Stadtplanung weltweit entfalten werden.
