Abstract

Manchester und Edinburgh wollen bis 2012 mehr als 1,1 Mrd £ in den Ausbau ihrer Nahverkehrssysteme investieren. Für Manchester liefert das Konsortium Bombardier Transportation/Vossloh Kiepe insgesamt 40 neue Stadtbahnen für das bestehende und das erweiterte Streckennetz. In Edinburgh wird das Straßenbahnnetz neu aufgebaut. Im Zuge dieses Projektes konnte Vossloh Kiepe erstmals den spanischen Hersteller CAF als mechanischen Partner gewinnen.For the period up to 2012, the British cities of Manchester and Edinburgh intend to invest over £1.1 billion in expanding and upgrading their local transport systems. For Greater Manchester, a Bombardier Transportation/Vossloh Kiepe consortium will be supplying altogether 40 new LRV for the existing network and the new line extensions. In Edinburgh, the Scottish parliament resolved to reinstall a tram network. As a consequence, Vossloh Kiepe has been awarded for the first time a contract from the Spanish railway system equipment supplier CAF.
