Abstract
In 2013, Metz has initiated a new bus system in tramway look and with its own lanes. The system is called Mettis. It represents the integration into an overall transport concept including shuttle and distribution traffic, the installation of park and ride facilities, parking management and traffic lane dismantling for the motorized individual transport as well as connections to bicycle and passenger traffic. This essay offers a comprehensive description of the system and discusses questions of traffic management, design aspects, design elements of tracks, integration of bus stops, overhead lines, automotive engineering of the busways, costs and its financing as well.
