Abstract
Today proven equipment to measure rail-traffic noise is available for different task-settings. It is possible to differentiate between noisy and less noisy wagons through noise-monitoring-stations along the railway-line. The degree of refitting noisy freight wagons could be traced by continuous noise measurements. In Germany only few measuring points are needed to get sufficient data for covering the whole freight weight traffic: 6 noise-monitoring-stations would cover 49 % of the freight traffic in Germany, 15 would measure 69 %. In Switzerland there are 6 stations on duty.
