Olympiareif: Die Tram in Athen. Die neue Straßenbahn hat ihre erste Bewährungsprobe während der Olympischen Sommerspiele erfolgreich bestanden.

Abstract

Am 19. Juli 2004 nahm die neue Athener Straßenbahn nach nur dreiwöchiger komplexer technischer Erprobung der Infrastruktur und der Fahrzeuge ihren Fahrgastbetrieb auf. Sie hat ihre erste Bewährungsprobe während der Olympischen Sommerspiele 2004 erfolgreich bestanden. Das Netz der neuen Athener Straßenbahn hat eine Streckenlänge von 23,9 km. Etwa 90 Prozent der Strecken verlaufen auf eigener Trasse. Der Fahrzeugpark besteht aus 35 neuen Zweirichtungsfahrzeugen in 100-prozentiger Niederflurbauweise. Die Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe haben durch praxisorientierte Beratung und Unterstützung wesentlich dazu beigetragen, dass der Betrieb der neuen Athener Straßenbahn rechtzeitig vor Beginn der Olympischen Spiele aufgenommen werden konnte. difuOn 19 July 2004 the modern Athens tramway system started its passenger service after only three weeks of overall technical testing of the infrastructure and the vehicles. The system successfully proved it s stability during the Olympic Summer Games 2004. The network of the modern Athens tramway has a track length of 23.9 km. About 90 per cent of the tracks have an own way, separated from the other traffic. The fleet consists of 35 new built bi-directional and 100 per cent under floor vehicles. The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (Berlin Public Transport Corporation) by providing advices and support oriented to practical solutions has significantly contributed to reach the target to start the operation of the modern Athens tramway system well in advance before the Olympic Games. difu
