Abstract
Automated People Mover systems are particularly known in Europe with regard to London s and Frankfurt´s international airports. The automatic, driverless trains operate on their own alignments and make dense city-centres, airports and shopping centres accessible or serve as feeder-systems for other rail-traffic. The Austrian company Doppelmayr, otherwise known for aerial ropeway systems, has transferred the proven technology into the horizontal and offer their Cable-Liner Shuttle for urban short-distance traffic. Contrary to conventional People-Movers the cars are not propelled by on board motors, but pulled over the guideway by cable. difu
