Abstract
In Germany, there are currently about 200 citizen busses on the way and according to demographic change and financial constraints of public authorities, this number will increase further in the next few years. However, after the states of North-Rhine Westphalia and Lower-Saxony, also Baden-Wurttemberg provides federal state funds to support projects. Basically developed for the rural areas with insufficient public transportation possibilities, the citizens? busses are now rolling in large cities as well. Characterizing is that all male and female drivers are volunteers. Actually, anyone between 21 and 70 having a class B driver license is allowed to drive a citizen bus.
