Abstract

Mit seiner Bewirtschaftungsform beweist der Schilfschnitt Nachhaltigkeit im Umgang mit der Landschaft. Dementgegen stehen die Anforderungen zur Nutzung des Sees und des Schilfgürtels als Naherholungs-, Freizeit und Wohnort. Siedlungen im Schilf ohne Einbindung in das Dorfgefüge, Restaurants am exklusiven Seeufer und Seebäder, die die Besucher*innenzahlen maximieren wollen, beanspruchen den sensiblen Naturraum. Therein lie the challenges in the use of the lake and its reed belt for leisure, touristic and residential aims. This article attempts to spatially grasp the existing structures around Lake Neusiedl and to analyze their characteristics programmatically, typologically and morphologically within the historical context, in order to formulate contemporary questions and answers concerning the cultural landscape.
