Etwa 80 % der fast 800 Mio. Inder leben in Dörfern. Erd- oder Lehmhäuser gelten als Zeichen der Armut, Zement oder gebrannte Ziegel als Luxus. Durch Ökoentwicklung könnten kosten- und ressourcensparende Bauweisen entwickelt werden, die besonders den in Indien vorherrschenden Umwelt- und Lebensbedingungen entsprechen. (-z-)
