Abstract

Ein Passagierwachstum sagen die Prognosen für den Flughafen Frankfurt von heute ca. 52 Mio. Passagieren im Jahr (2005) auf ca. 88 Mio. Pax/a im Jahr 2020 voraus. Trotz der permanenten Optimierung und Modernisierung der bestehenden Infrastruktur arbeiten die beiden Anlagen Terminal 1 und Terminal 2 bereits zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt am Kapazitätslimit. Das prognostizierte Wachstum wird somit nicht in den bestehenden Terminalanlagen abgebildet werden können. Deshalb hat Fraport zur Abdeckung des Mehrbedarfs neben dem Bau einer neuen Landebahn auch ein neues Terminal beantragt. difuTraffic forecasts for Frankfurt Airport show a growth in passenger volume from 52 million per year in 2005 to some 88 million in 2020. In spite of the ongoing optimization and modernization of the existing infrastructure facilities, Terminals 1 and 2 are currently facing capacity limits and can, therefore, not cope with the anticipated growth in traffic. To be able to handle future demand, Fraport has applied for permission to build a third runway and a new terminal complex. This report highlights all the necessary - and partially completed - planning and approval stages for the five-year evaluation process needed for the conceptualization of the Terminal 3 project at Frankfurt airport. difu
