Abstract

Österreich wird zunehmend zersiedelt. Das hat schwerwiegende Folgen für die Verkehrsentwicklung. Pkw- und Lkw-Verkehr nehmen zu, der Öffentliche Verkehr wird mit geringeren Siedlungsdichten unrentabler. Der Boom an Einkaufszentren geht Hand in Hand mit dem Niedergang der Naherversorgung einher. Die Publikation analysiert, dass eine zukunftsorientierte Siedlungsentwicklung und regionale Entwicklungskonzepte zu weniger Auto- und Lkw-Verkehr führen. Es wird dargestellt, was die Raumordnung zur Reduktion des Verkehrsaufkommens beitragen kann und welche Wirkung etwa mit einer Förderung von Verkehrsparhäusern und einer Verkehrserreger-Abgabe erzielt werden können. Auch das Vorbild des niederländischen ABC-Konzepts wird vorgestellt. This has serious consequences for traffic development. The number of passenger cars and lorries on the roads is increasing. In less densely populated areas, the operation of bus and train services becomes uneconomical, and especially in marginal regions, local supply and jobs are endangered. The publication about the effects of regional planning on traffic development shows how future-oriented housing development and regional development plans can help decrease road traffic. The possible contributions of regional planning to the reduction of traffic and specific measures such as a tax for causers of traffic and a reform of the promotion of traffic of commuters to work are discussed.
