Park-Platz-Halle? Umgestaltung des Naschmarkt-Parkplatzes: Diskurs über eine zukunftsfähige Entwicklung.

Abstract

Der Wiener Naschmarkt-Parkplatz im 6. Wiener Gemeindebezirk steht schon lange im Gedan­ken einer Umgestaltung. Im April 2021 wurde vonseiten der Stadtverwaltung eine Projektidee auf den Tisch gelegt - die auf Widerstand stieß. Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die Geschichte des Platzes, die aktuelle wienweite Diskussion sowie die Möglichkeiten und Dringlichkeiten einer Umgestaltung dieser Fläche.Alongside Vienna’s famous Naschmarkt is an area covering 12000 sqm, which is currently used as parking lot and on Saturdays for a flea market. The area is considered as one of the biggest heat islands in the inner city. In spring 2021, the responsible city council released their ideas for transforming the space: A new market hall should be built. The approach and argumenting of the city encounter resistance. This article gives an overview of the history, the local conditions and the current debate.
