Abstract

Die Renaissance der Innenstadt europäischer Metropolen wird als positiv betrachtet. Ihr Erfolg führt jedoch zur Verdrängung von ertragsschwächeren, gewerblich geprägten Nutzungen. Es werden konkrete Fallbeispiele untersucht und eine neue räumliche Typologie identifiziert. Alternative Lösungsansätze in Form von nutzergetragenen Entwicklungen werden aufgezeigt, mit dem Ziel eine "echte“ Urbane Mischung langfristig in der Innenstadt zu sichern.The past 20 years have seen a renaissance in European inner cities with largely positive effects. However this very success has led to the displacement of lower-value workspaces out of city centres. This publication starts by identifying a new spatial typology and examines it through case studies in central London, Hamburg and Berlin. Finally it explores alternative solutions of user-based development which could secure a genuine use-mix for our inner cities in the long-term.
