Das Ziel der Forschungsarbeit ist es die Ursachen für die frühe Industrialisierung zu analysieren, sowie die Auswirkungen der frühen Industrialisierung auf die Entstehung des Fabrikantentums, die Bautätigkeit der Fabrikanten und daraus resultierend, den Einfluss der Fabrikanten auf die städtebauliche Entwicklung der Region zu erforschen und gegenseitige Abhängigkeiten und Bedingtheiten darzustellen.The cities of Reichenbach (Vogtland), Mylau and Netzschkau form an economic district, in which the industrialisation process began in the first decade of the 19th Century. Reichenbach, the largest of the three cities, could count itself already in 1847 to one of the most important factory locations in Saxony.
